Born and raised in Schwäbisch Hall, southern Germany, Jannik Weiße worked as a journalist and writer for renowned documentary and news productions at both public and private broadcasters. Currently, he studies film directing at the Film Academy Baden-Württemberg. His short film PARADIESVOGEL (Bird of Paradise) premiered at the 42nd Filmfestival Max Ophüls and was selected by the FFA and German Films to run in NEXT GENERATION SHORT TIGER 2021 in Cannes. His latest medium-length film BABYBOY is a German-Austrian co-production, premiered at the 19th achtung berlin - the new berlin film award. At the 23rd SHORTS - Trinational Film Festival Offenburg, he won the jury and audience awards. 

Jannik is also involved in intercultural children's and youth work and gives film workshops, recently at the international youth theatre festival of the Freilichtspiele Schwäbisch Hall.
