I shot this film on the night of July 23, 1977 in Heinz Baumüller and Urs PflugerŽ s apartment in Linz. The first version was about 55 minutes long and screened only once. Between 1979 and 86 I felt like working on Normal 1 a number of times. As a result, the films structure was mangled to such an extent that it got better and better on the one hand, at the same time getting worse and worse. After my nerves were completely frazzled, I hid the remaining fragment (24 minutes) in my archive. I later found it and decided to undertake a radical operation. The result: the film´s length was reduced to 8 minutes.
