doris duhennois
(PhD) is an independent researcher and writer based in Marseille. Their work interrogates memorial transmission in postcolonial contexts, individual and institutional heritage practices, and creative methodologies as tools for decolonising research. In 2026, they completed a Ph.D. in Geography and Anthropology at the University of Winchester, examining how colonial monuments in Martinique and Saint Lucia are being resignified through intimate encounters and political activism. doris also initiated Dechoukaj, a collaborative project around colonial landscapes, with several creative outputs. Alongside their research, doris writes poetry and realises video essays, with some published online at The Hoosac Institute, and in print in the latest issue of Comme nous brûlons.
