The main focus of this selection of young Austrian "narrative" films is the reflection of everyday activities and experiences. "Mirroring" because these are not documentary records but specific, aesthetic approaches that are sometimes shifted into surreal or abstract environments or allow detailed observations as semi-documentary milieu studies. Whether inner constraints or external conditions determine some of the protagonists' actions, the escape routes suggested in them ultimately prove to be dead ends. (Gerald Weber)
