The divided sky

We borrowed the title for the new sixpackfilm festival from the book by Christa Wolf and the film adaptation of the same name by Konrad Wolf. The divided sky seemed so appropriate for this special variant of traveling cinema: the endless horizon, the possibility of gaining diverse impressions and insights both aesthetically and in terms of content, and finally the shared experience of watching films and exchanging ideas with the audience are just some of the associations.

The moving image, in its many forms, is one of the most important means of artistic expression today. Instead of clear categorizations in terms of genre and medium, there is a multitude of working methods, presentation venues and themes that suggest a departure from the classic cinema space. sixpackfilm contacted selected venues in Vienna for the presentation of current films and videos from our programme and, to our delight, all of our desired partners participated in this idea. We are therefore able to offer a course of exciting screenings during these ten days and cordially invite you to take part in this voyage of discovery. (Brigitta Burger-Utzer)
