Talking Screen wants to explore the question of the diverse forms of presentation of films in the exhibition context, but also the cross-media interferences with other artistic practices. The presentation formats, conceived together with the guests, are deliberately kept open and are intended to include multifaceted varieties of (performative) self-presentation as well as to enable a critical discourse on cinematic formats & forms. The respective setting is a combination of films, conversation and micro-exhibition for one evening.

Rainer Kohlberger's aesthetic vocabulary is defined by algorithmically generated images that breathe something like the skin of the digital and at the same time exhibit it opulently. Answering the Sun is the name of his latest and most radical work to date, which suspends classical optical and acoustic parameters of perception and produces an intense physical experience - a kind of state of intoxication for eye and ear. The title alone refers to the hallucinatory effect familiar from childhood that accompanied "looking into the sun"; Op Art or the psychedelic media art of the 1960s would be further historical fields of reference. But Kohlberger does not only work for the dispositif of cinema, his works include apps, visuals, installations, live performances, DJ-ing; - besides his characteristic abstract image work, he is usually also responsible for the sound itself. Before the presentation of the film, Kohlberger will give insight into his different fields of activity and scope of action. (Dietmar Schwärzler)
