IMAGO MUNDI – Films by Lisl Ponger

The motif of travel is one of the central motifs of Lisl Ponger's film work. Ponger's montage of her own, and later other people's, travel images always manifests a critical questioning of the representation of what is recorded and the illusionary power of the medium. Her most recent film Imago Mundi is therefore consistently concerned with the fundamental questions of the production of art, the production of a discourse, the production of a (changed) world view.

The movement that Imago Mundi accomplishes consists in the reciprocal reflection of these three areas, and even more: in the changing intervention concerning their constellation to each other. (Christian Höller)
