At the beginning there is a transcendental approach to the stadium, which lies like a landed flying object in the emptied periphery of a large city (Jogging). This is followed by two precise observations: Insights into the rituals in the dressing room before a rugby match (Comme un seul homme) and those in the fan sector during a league encounter (Wir sind dir treu). Jamila is the portrait of a girl as a member of a women's football club, in conflict between Islamic tradition and passion for sport. In Wisla, Josef Dabernig imitates the impenetrable expressions and strange gestures of the coaches on the players' bench during a match that is not actually taking place. Finally, the great Jacques Tati records the euphoria and disillusionment of an entire city in European Cup fever in his rarely shown late masterpiece Forza Bastia. Pure pleasure! (Gerald Weber)
