Hotel Diaries is the name John Smith has given to his ongoing series of video recordings, which - each recorded late at night in different hotel rooms in Europe - place what he has just personally experienced in the context of current or historical (world) political events. In her video, Hito Steyerl has employees of the Film Museum in Sarajevo reconstruct scenes from a Bosnian monthly film show from 1947 with an illustrator (the artist Arman Kulasic) and at the same time sets out on contradictory tracks about the whereabouts of this piece of film/contemporary history that was lost during the war. Goran Rebic traveled to Georgia and Tbilisi two years after the collapse of the Soviet empire and collected moments and impressions of a country at a so-called historical turning point. A program about recording methods and reconstructions of history. (Gerald Weber)
