The back of the pictures

What is a picture? What secrets does it hold, what does it say and how is it created in the first place? Does the truth determine the image or does the image determine the truth? Every cinematic image has a before and after, a beside, behind and also above. Memories consist of these layers, which we try to relate in order to gain an impression - a statement. Pictures contain codes that are revealed to the viewer in the course of showing them: the aim is to decipher the riddle they pose. The reverse side of the pictures brings together five documentary forms that, on the one hand, raise questions about the construction of meaning and, on the other, insist on active participation in the production of meaning and knowledge.
