Josef Dabernig

Born 1956 in Kötschach-Mauthen, Austria. Studied sculpture at the Academy of fine Arts, Vienna. Films since 1994. Lives in Vienna.
Exhibitions include among others the Venice Biennial (2003, 2001), Manifesta 3, Ljubljana (2000) and Manifesta 10 in St. Petersburg (2014) and the 9. Gwangju Biennial (2012).
Film Festival participations at Locarno International Film Festival (2002, 2008), Mar del Plata International Film Festival (2007, 2011), Melbourne International Film Festival (2001), International Short Film Festival Oberhausen (2006, 2009, 2014, 2015, 2016 Profile, 2017), International Film Festival Rotterdam (2000, 2011), Toronto International Film Festival (2006, 2009, 2019) and Venice Film Festival (2011), where his short film Hypercrisis has been nominated for the European Film Academy Award.
