NOTHING NEW – A documentary by Lennart Hüper
Following the rescue of over 450 refugees from distress at sea by the crew of the LIFELINE, Captain Claus-Peter Reisch must now stand trial. The ship will remain impounded for the duration of the trial. The calmness of the crew, patiently and eagerly waiting for the moment to set sail, contrasts with the Kafkaesque excesses of European migration policy. The film accompanies Captain Reisch on his court odyssey, during speeches and lectures to school classes and award ceremony guests, and in conversations with politicians. What remains painful is the necessity of having to lobby for his cause - for a humanity that should actually be self-evident.
